The YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee and Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare will host a public open house at the area’s first YMCA Healthy Lifestyle Village, 9250 N. Green Bay Road on Saturday, Aug. 29 from 11 am – 2 pm.
The free event will feature activities for all ages, including:
•Free cholesterol, glucose, and blood pressure screenings
•A Teddy Bear Clinic - Children are invited to bring their stuffed friends in for a check up by a Wheaton Franciscan Medical Group physician.
•A bounce house, giant “Operation” game, crafts and more for children
•Make-your-own healthy snack
•Exercise demonstrations
•YMCA Class demonstrations including Zumba and Irish Dance
•Physicians and trainers answer your health/fitness questions
•Diving demonstrations
•Tours and more!
The YMCA Healthy Lifestyle Village includes a new 60,000 square foot three-story medical building connected by a common lobby on the north side of the Rite-Hite Family YMCA (formerly Schroeder Branch YMCA). Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – Brown Deer houses physician offices, full service imaging including nuclear and stress tests, physical therapy, an endoscopy suite, pain management center, and a laboratory. The Rite-Hite Family YMCA recently underwent extensive renovations to provide needed updates to the 30-year old building. The center offers individual and family programs including fitness, aquatics, pre-school, day camp, family and teen programs. The Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center is also located at the campus.
The Village offers joint programming including health screenings, community health and wellness education, outpatient therapy and rehabilitation, aquatic rehabilitation programming, stress management, and shared use of fitness equipment.
About the YMCA Healthy Lifestyle Village
The first-ever in the Milwaukee area, the YMCA Healthy Lifestyle Village in Brown Deer is a partnership between the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee, Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare and the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center. The YMCA Healthy Lifestyle Village is a ‘destination campus,’ where people can learn, plan, and take action to improve their health and quality of life. The joint campus creates synergies in providing the most comprehensive set of services for health and fitness, wellness education, family programming and screenings to YMCA members, Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare patients, and the community at large. Wheaton Franciscan Medical Group family physicians and specialists are located on the campus, in addition to an urgent care center, outpatient therapy and rehabilitation, and diagnostic imaging.
