Rarely does a team go the final 11-plus minutes of a game without a basket and actually move closer to the state tournament. But top-seeded Milwaukee King did just that in a 52-46 victory over fifth-seeded Nicolet in a Division 1 sectional semifinal.
The Brookfield Central girls basketball team played its first game in the school's brand-spanking new gymnasium, but Nicolet was a less-than-gracious guest.
The Homestead girls basketball team didn't have to look far for motivation when it traveled to Nicolet on Friday night. After all, the Highlanders were embarrassed in a 27-point loss to the Knights in early December. Consider the score settled after Homestead handed Nicolet its second North Shore Conference loss, 51-43.
Mequon - Because the Homestead gymnastics team decided on a 1980s theme for the Highlander Invitational on Saturday, there was no shortage of bright pink and aqua colors worn by competitors and a few spectators. But the only color the Nicolet team was concerned about was gold.
