Police Report: July 12

BAYSIDE

1A 39-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving after hitting a pole in the 500 block of West Brown Deer Road and continuing to drive until stopped in the 300 block of East Brown Deer Road at 3:35 a.m. July 11. His blood-alcohol content was 0.24.

BROWN DEER

2A 52-year-old Glendale man was arrested for drunken driving, with six prior convictions, driving a motorcycle without a license, failure to have insurance, refusal to take a breath test and speeding more than 55 mph in a 40 mph zone in the 4400 block of West Brown Deer Road at 12:15 a.m. July 1. He failed field sobriety tests and on a preliminary breath test registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.132. He had been convicted six times for drunken driving dating back to 1989 in Florida, New Jersey and Wisconsin.

3A counterfeit $50 bill was used to purchase items at Walgreens, 6020 W. Brown Deer Road, at 3 p.m. July 2. It was a "washed" $5 bill and when held up to the light Abraham Lincoln could be seen. It had been used about noon by either one of two women both wearing pink.

4An 18-year-old Brown Deer man was warned for possession and discharging of fireworks after a report of a someone setting off a bottle rocket in the 5700 block of West Ester Place at 11:45 p.m. July 2. Police confiscated 20 bottle rockets found in his car. He denied he had set off the bottle rocket saying "It's the fourth of July and everyone is driving around with fireworks." His passenger, a 17-year-old Brown Deer boy, was cited for a curfew violation.

5A 45-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for possession of 1.5 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and a warrant after he was seen walking with traffic instead of against it in the 8400 block of North Teutonia Avenue at 1 a.m. July 4. He told police, he wanted to be honest and there was a drug pipe in his pocket and marijuana in his right shoe.

6A 45-year-old Mequon woman was arrested for drunken driving after she was seen driving north in a southbound lane in the 8600 block of North Green Bay Road at 1:30 a.m. July 5. She said she had three beers at Summerfest and another at a bar. Her BAC was 0.13.

• There were three domestic violence incidents this week.

FOX POINT

7Two skateboards valued at $165 each were taken after being left unsecured while their owners, 15 and 16 of Bayside and Mequon, shopped at Best Buy, 8755 N. Port Washington Road, about 7 p.m. July 2.

8A 26-year-old Menomonee Falls man was arrested for drunken driving and speeding when police were alerted to a car going 60 mph in a 35 mph zone in the 6600 block of North Lake Drive at 3 a.m. July 4. The man said he had one drink at 1 a.m. His BAC was 0.17.

GLENDALE

9A fraud was reported by US Bank, 5888 N. Port Washington Road, on June 18. On May 20, a 33-year-old Milwaukee man deposited a check for $9,890 and on May 21 he wired $9,500 of it to a bank in the United Arab Emirates. On May 25, the check came back for insufficient funds. On May 27, he deposited two more checks totaling $11,490. Both of these checks were also worthless.

10A 23-year-old Glendale man was arrested for drunken driving and warned for lane deviation in the 6900 North Port Washington Road at 2:45 a.m. July 2. The man said he was coming from a friend's house and when asked what he was doing there said, "Drinking." His BAC was 0.20.

11A 20-year-old Glendale woman was arrested for disorderly conduct after she yelled and screamed profanities at her mother's residence in the 5400 block of North 26th Street at 2:45 a.m. July 3.

12A 35-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving after a report of a car speeding over 70 mph in a 35 mph zone with a flat tire at Port Washington and Bender roads at 9:45 p.m. July 4. The man admitted drinking four glasses of "straight vodka." He failed field sobriety tests including reciting the alphabet. His BAC was 0.15.

13A 36-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for lewd and lascivious behavior, with two prior arrests, after witnesses reported him masturbating in front of the Golden Living Center, 1300 W. Silver Spring Drive, at 6:45 p.m. July 5. The man denied that saying he was only urinating.

14A 34-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman of Milwaukee were arrested for possession of marijuana after the car he was driving was stopped for suspended registration in the 1100 block of West Silver Spring Drive at 7 p.m. July 5. Both were also arrested for outstanding warrants and the man on a criminal charge of being a fugitive from justice. Five plastic bags with a total of 4.6 grams of marijuana were found, three in the car and two on the man when arrested.

RIVER HILLS

15A 54-year-old Palos Heights, Ill., man was arrested for drunken driving, refusal to take a breath test and speeding 68 mph in a 45 mph zone at Brown Deer and Range Line roads at 12:15 a.m. July 9. His BAC was 0.164.

SHOREWOOD

16A 48-year-old Yorkville, Ill., man was arrested for urinating in public outside a bar in the 1800 block of E. Kensington Blvd. just after the bar closed at 2:30 a.m. July 3.

17Two Adirondack chairs valued at $60 were taken from the 4400 block of North Wildwood Avenue during the day July 3.

18A 36-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for robbery after she and a man, who fled the scene, entered an apartment through a window in the 1500 block of East Capitol Drive about 4 p.m. July 7. The couple attacked the residents with a hammer and broom and fled with a purse, which was recovered.

19An unsecured bicycle valued at $400 was taken from Shorewood High School, 1701 E. Capitol Drive, between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. July 8.

20A resident reported that two men came to his home saying they were from Shorewood Department of Public Works and would trim his trees but first had to enter his home to shut off the power in the 4400 block of North Ardmore Avenue at 5 p.m. July 8. They then told him he would have to pay for the removal of clippings. He said he'd give them a check and they told him the "check machine is broke" and they needed cash. They left after he said he needed to call police.

WHITEFISH BAY

21A 17-year-old Milwaukee boy was arrested for possession of marijuana and theft of a $400 bicycle from the 4700 block of North Wilshire Road after he was stopped while riding the bike in the 1900 block of East Hampton Road about 2:30 a.m. July 6. At the same time and place, two men, abandoned a car and fled on foot. The car had been reported taken during an armed car-jacking in Milwaukee. The boy was turned over to Milwaukee police.

22A 20-year-old Hartland man, and two 20-year-old Milwaukee men, one just 20 days before his 21st birthday, were cited for underage possession of alcohol after a report of a open fire at Big Bay Park, 5000 N. Palisades Road, at 2:34 a.m. July 6.

23Two unsecured bicycles were taken from Whitefish Bay High School, 1200 E. Fairmount Ave., July 7 and July 9. One bicycle along with a tennis racket valued at $300 were taken between 2 and 3 p.m. July 7. The second bicycle valued at $250 was taken from the track area between 4 and 5:30 p.m. July 9.

24A 30-year-old Whitefish Bay man was arrested for drunken driving and refusal to take a breath test in the 500 block of East Hampton road at 2:25 a.m. July 9.

NORTH SHORE FIRE DEPARTMENT

• Firefighters responded to 114 calls, 85 emergency medical and 29 fire/rescue, June 28 to July 4 and to 128 calls, 92 emergency medical and 36 fire/rescue, July 5 to July 11.

25A contractor with a boring machine pierced a 4-inch natural gas line causing more than eight homes to be evacuated in the 5300 block of North Lake Drive, Whitefish Bay, at 4:25 p.m. June 28. We Energies arrived on the scene. No injuries were reported.

26A stove fire was reported in the 5100 block of North Cumberland Boulevard, Whitefish Bay, at 7:45 p.m. June 29. According to the report, two college-aged students reported an oil or grease fire on the stove that they tried to put out with water. The grease splattered on one of them causing injury to his arms. The man was given medical assistance and the couple was advised on how to properly and safely extinguish an oil fire.
