River Hills - A 14-year-old Bayside boy is recovering from injuries after police say he was assaulted by a boy dressed as a ninja in a wooded area behind Nicolet High School. The victim was treated at St. Mary's Ozaukee for a cut to his forehead and released.
Police Chief Tom Rischmann said authorities are reviewing the incident to see if juvenile charges should be filed against a 16-year-old River Hills boy who is a suspect in the attack.
According to the chief:
After the end of the school day, at 2:45 p.m. Monday, a group of four or five students from the high school went into the Nicolet Woods, behind the high school at 6701 N. Jean Nicolet Road. The high school owns a large wooded area that abuts wooded tracts in River Hills.
The students told police they were looking for a ninja after hearing that two girls walking through the wooded area the prior afternoon were confronted by a boy dressed as a ninja.
The victim split away from the group and was then confronted by the suspect, hit in the head with a 2-foot-long black metal machete and dragged down a hill. The suspect allegedly said he was "protecting the land." The assault took place on private property.
The Bayside boy, bleeding heavily from the head wound, made his way back to the high school. Police were called at 3:24 p.m. He was taken to the hospital, where his wounds require 20 stitches.
Nicolet District Administrator Rick Monroe said the suspect is not a student at the school. The incident was not school-related, he said.
"The police are confident this is an isolated incident and there is no one else doing this," he said. "We did send a message to parents saying a student was assaulted and there is a suspect."
The school posted no-trespassing signs at the edge of school property last fall after receiving complaints from neighbors about students using the area as a shortcut.
Monroe said he went to the woods after school ended on Wednesday to see if students continued to use the shortcut. He didn't see anyone.

And {wisdottie} as for him bleeding to death...head/scalp wounds appear to bleed profusely but are not usually the cause of someone bleeding to death. So YES given the fact that the boy is okay....it's a VERY entertaining story.
If you want to be horrified at something...why did the kids enter the woods LOOKING for a ninja instead of calling the police to investigate? Be careful where you aim that righteous indignation....someone might get hurt ;)

was able to walk back to school (he wasn't in bad enough shape to need
"someone to find him"), then go to the hospital, be treated, and immediately
released.
Would I be peeved if it were my child who got ninja-sworded by some crazy
kid in the woods? Sure. Would I laugh about it with him afterwards? Heck
yes!
To add to petrol's comment - the "horrifying" thing is that the police
apparently have done nothing to find this ninja, at least as far as the article
has mentioned (besides check to see if any students are using the shortcut).
Maybe our tax dollars should get a bit more action...

Glendale police responded quickly and worked with River Hills police to find the suspect. The suspect has been identified.
Both police departments and the school administration took this very seriously and the victim's family really appreciates it!
I do agree that the boys should have talked to the school about the earlier niinja sighting instead of going back in the woods looking.
As for the fact that it was amusing - I found myself laughing over this many times over the last few days. We were scared, it could have been worse, but he is okay, and the ninja was caught.

My guess is this disturbed kid lives in the area, and was just waiting for something like "trespassing" (since we don't know if they were on his family's property) students to set him off. Scary thought just occurred to me. I sure hope this disturbed ninja didn't and doesn't see that Spike show, Deadliest Warriors. I think they pitted a ninja against a Spartan...

Wisdottie: Apparently not only I am pathetic, but the mother of the victim is pathetic, as well as everyone else thus far that has commented. It may seem that you might be the one that has the issues. It seems as if we can take a minor incident and cope with it by looking at the bright side of it.
I have two children, 5 and 13. I would have had the same reaction that everyone else but you did. "Oh my are you ok?! You are? Ok, wow was that surreal!"
I can't help but picture a kid accidentally bumping heads with another kid and they crash to the ground. Kids are checked on and the parents start giggling. Then from the bushes comes wisdottie yelling, "YOU ARE PATHETIC HOW DARE YOU MAKE LIGHT OF SUCH A SERIOUS INJURY! THEY COULD HAVE BRAIN CANCER!"
