Police Report: March 28

1A 47-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested on two counts of theft and one count of obstruction for lying after taking a pair of glasses from Innovative Optique, 333 W. Brown Deer Road, and some candy bars from Open Pantry, 501 W. Brown Deer Road, about 3 p.m. March 21. The man denied taking anything even though the glasses and candy were found in his possession.

2An unoccupied armored truck rolled through traffic and hit a sign on the southwest corner of Brown Deer and Port Washington roads at about 2:30 p.m. March 23. The driver and a passenger had stopped at US Bank, 400 W. Brown Deer Road, and exited the vehicle but apparently did not put it in park. The truck crossed two lanes of traffic. The amount of damage to the truck and sign was not available.


3A 15-year-old Brown Deer boy was cited for disorderly conduct after he slapped the buttocks of a girl at Brown Deer High School, 8060 N. 60th St., at 1:30 p.m. March 14 and reported March 21. Surveillance video shows him hitting the girl and the girl chasing him down the hall. The boy said he meant to hit her leg as a joke because the two are friends.

4A 27-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving, driving while suspended, refusal to take a breath test and speeding 54 mph in a 35 mph zone in the 4200 block of West Good Hope Road at 2:30 a.m. March 16. He was taken for a blood draw.

5A 24-year-old Brown Deer man was arrested for disorderly conduct in the 4800 block of West Terry Avenue at 2:15 a.m. March 17. He reportedly had an argument with his roommate and began throwing things around the house breaking them. The man had a preliminary blood alcohol content of 0.303.

6A 25-year-old Glendale woman was arrested for drunken driving and unsafe lane deviation in the 8100 block of North Green Bay Road at 2:15 a.m. March 18. Her BAC was 0.15.

• A 15-year-old Brown Deer girl was arrested for battery and a 41-year-old Brown Deer woman, her mother, for physical abuse of a child at 10 a.m. March 19. The mother called 911 and when asked if an ambulance was needed said not then, but "if you don't get here quick, she'll need one." As the girl was being led away, she spit in her mother's face and called her a name. The girl was secured on the floor when the mother kicked her in the head. The woman, a Milwaukee County Corrections Officer, works with juveniles.

7A 41-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving, open intoxicants and refusal to take a breath test after a 911 call reporting an erratic driver in the 8000 block of North Green Bay Road at 11:50 p.m. March 19. The man said he was just trying "to get back to my crib." His preliminary BAC was 0.196.

8A 17-year-old Milwaukee boy was arrested for violation of curfew and his instructional permit after he was stopped for driving without lights in the 6400 block of West Brown Deer Road at 3:15 a.m. March 20. He said he had his father's car and his father knew it. However, when his father was called, he said he had no idea his son had the car.


9A 30-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving, driving with a suspended registration, refusal to take a breath test and given a warning for speeding 45 mph in a 35 mph zone in the 7200 block of North Port Washington Road at 2:15 a.m. March 16. He told police he had an unloaded gun in the truck of his car. The gun and a few rounds of ammunition were found.

10A man was seen on surveillance video taking a $169 portable DVD player at Walgreens, 8615 N. Port Washington Road, at 4 p.m. March 18. The man left the store with the item.


11An 18-year-old Glendale man was mailed a citation for possession of alcohol on school grounds at Nicolet High School, 6701 N. Jean Nicolet Road, about noon March 18. Two bottles of beer were found in the trunk of his car during a routine police canine search in the parking lot. The student said the car was his but the beer might belong to a cousin who had borrowed the car.

12A 16-year-old Glendale girl was arrested for resisting/obstruction for fighting with another girl at Nicolet High School at 1:30 p.m. March 18. The fight started after a verbal argument over how to say and spell "twelfth." The suspect hit the other girl saying, "No (expletive) can tell me how to say twelfth." She also screamed at police saying, "Get your (expletive) hands off of me."

13A 20-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for possession of 10.2 grams of marijuana after a noise complaint at the Residence Inn, 7275 N. Port Washington Road, at 11:30 p.m. March 18. Police found a group of people including the suspect standing outside a suite. When the suspect saw police, he ran into the room and up to the second floor where he tried to hide the marijuana under a mattress. He also had a plastic bag containing marijuana on his person.

14A 48-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for disorderly conduct after threatening an employee at The Radisson Hotel, 7075 N. Port Washington Road, at 12:15 a.m. March 20. The man, who had been asked to leave the hotel after refusing to pay for a beer, yelled, "I'm gonna get a gun and kill this (expletive)." He was arrested in the parking lot.

15A 36-year-old Brown Deer man was arrested for drunken driving with a prior conviction, driving after revocation, refusal to take a breath test and driving north in a southbound lane in the 5900 block of North Port Washington Road at 1:45 a.m. March 20. He failed field sobriety tests.

16A 29-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for theft and three outstanding warrants also for theft at Sears, 5900 N. Port Washington Road, at 2:15 p.m. March 20. The woman had taken items valued at more than $1,000 including clothing, shavers and 19 bottles of perfume/cologne. She admitted taking the items from Sears showing police a shopping list on what she intended to steal. She also had clothing from The Gap which she said her sister had taken and she was going to return it.

17A resident reported the theft of four bottles of prescription medicine including Percocet and oxycodone from the 2800 block of West Mill Road at 11 p.m. March 21.

18A 15-year-old Milwaukee boy was arrested for trespassing at Buffalo Wild Wings, 590 W. Northshore Drive, about 8 p.m. March 21. Police had seen him earlier along with others boys after a report of a false 911 at a gas station across the street. They all denied making the call. At that time, police warned him not to go to Bay Shore since he was banned because of a theft arrest. He did return and was arrested.

19A 36-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for disorderly conduct/domestic at the service area at Andrew Toyota, 1620 W. Silver Spring Drive, at 12:15 p.m. March 24. When police arrived, the woman was holding the hand of a child while shaking her finger in the face of an employee while yelling, "Give me my weed back!" She struggled with police, refused to give her name and held the child in front of her to avoid being Tasered. The employee said the two had been living together for a few months and when asked her last name said he wasn't sure. He also said he didn't want her arrested but police told him, they had no choice.


20Items valued at more than $4,000 were taken from a home in the 2600 block of West Cedar Lane early to mid-morning March 21. A large screen had been removed from a back window and police were called about 5 p.m. when the burglary was discovered. Items taken include sterling silver place settings, a diamond ring and two watches.


20A $200 mountain bike was taken from Shorewood High School, 1701 E. Capitol Drive, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. March 18.

21A 26-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving, with a prior conviction, possession of 1.8 grams of marijuana, no insurance, open intoxicants and speeding 48 mph in a 25 mph zone in the 3500 block of North Oakland Avenue at 2 a.m. March 21. His BAC was 0.24.

• A resident reported an attempted fraud after signing up as a secret shopper and receiving a check on March 21. She was told to cash the check keep $300 and send the rest back via Western Union to Mysterious Shoppers in Providence, RI. Her bank told her before she could cash the check, it had to clear. The check was worthless.

22More than $300 of prescription medication including OxyContin was taken from the 1900 block of East Shorewood Boulevard between March 1 to 4 and reported March 22.

23A women reported the theft of clothing taken from a dryer in the 2100 block of East Capitol Drive at 7:30 a.m. March 23. The clothing including jeans and underwear was valued at more than $300.

24A 21-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for disorderly conduct after throwing a chair and yelling when he had to wait to see a doctor in the 3900 block of North Oakland Avenue at 10 a.m. March 23. No injuries were reported.

25A 27-year-old Shorewood man was the victim of an attempted robbery in the 1700 block of East Beverly Road at 9:45 p.m. March 24. He was approached by a man wearing a green jacket who told him, "Get down on the ground." The resident turned and ran one way and the would-be robber ran the other way.


26Silverware valued at more than $300 was reported taken from the 5700 block of North Kent Avenue sometime March 18 to 23. The home is for sale and has been shown.

27A Marquette University flag, value not available and displayed on a 10-foot pole, was taken from the 5100 block of North Kent Avenue sometime March 20 or 21.

28An attempt was made to remove a deck window in the 300 block of East Lake View Avenue sometime March 21 or 22. No other damage was reported.

29Items valued at $2,700 including a lawn mower, grill and wooden crib were taken from a basement storage locker in the 300 block of East Henry Clay Street from March 21 to 23. The lock had been cut to gain entry.

30A 56-year-old Whitefish Bay man was mailed a citation for obstructing village right of way after refusing to remove a lift truck parked without any warning lights in the 800 block of East Birch Avenue at 7 p.m. March 23.

31A 22-year-old Whitefish Bay man was arrested for drunken driving with a prior conviction after being stopped for speeding 54 mph in a 25 mph zone in the 4700 block of North Ardmore Avenue at 2 a.m. March 26. He was taken for a blood draw.


• Firefighters responded to 108 calls, 83 emergency medical and 25 fire/rescue, March 21 to March 27.

32A natural gas odor was reported in the 5300 block of North Bay Ridge Avenue, Whitefish Bay, at 11:30 p.m. March 22. After the home was ventilated, firefighters determined the furnace's pilot light was out. The homeowner was advised to call a furnace repair company.
