Brewers will be at Village Park
Brown Deer - The Milwaukee Brewers will host a block party from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Village Park, 4800 W. Green Brook Drive.
Brewers players and coaches are expected to be in attendance between 11:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m.
St. Paul's Church hosts free summer concert
Brown Deer - The Keith Lienert Steel Drum Band will play at 7 p.m. Saturday on the lawn at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 8080 N. 47th St. with a free ice cream social in the church hall to follow.
Actor Ernest Borgnine at Borders on July 11
Fox Point - Actor Ernest Borgnine will sign copies of his book "Ernie: The Autobiography" at Border Books and Music, 8705 N. Port Washington Road, at 2 p.m July 11.
Friends of the Brown Deer Library to hold used book sale
Brown Deer - The Friends of the Brown Deer Library are holding a used book sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., July 18 at the Brown Deer Library Community Room, 5600 W. Bradley Road. Admission is free.
The sale will include adult and children's fiction and non-fiction, movies on DVD and VHS, CDs and audio books at bargain prices.
Donations to the sale will be accepted at the library through July 16.
The Friends will host a members preview sale from 5 to 6 p.m. July 17. A $5 admission will be charged for non-members or reduced-rate 2009 Friends memberships will be available for $6.
A silent auction of two numbered and professionally-framed Owen Gromme prints will be held both days. Each print will have a minimum bid.

Golf outing to benefit St. Francis de Sales Seminary
Brown Deer - The sixth annual Pallium Golf Outing will take place July 27, at the Tripoli Country Club, 7401 North 43rd St. Everyone is invited to golf, enjoy the cocktail hour dinner auction, or both, with proceeds benefiting Saint Francis de Sales Seminary.
Register by calling (414)747-6443. The cost is $275 for golf, cart, driving range, putting green, locker and dinner; $110 for evening reception including hors d'oeuvres, cocktails and dinner.
Saint Francis de Sales Seminary is growing, with six seminarians - the most in 17 years - ordained this May, and 36 men currently enrolled in the ordination preparation program. Seminary education costs $40,000 annually for each seminarian, with events like the Pallium Golf Outing helping support quality formation for all seminarians now and into the future.
Openings remain for Thiensville Safety Town program
Thiensville - The Mequon-Thiensville Optimist Club in conjunction with the Thiensville Police department are sponsoring Safety Town, a program promoting safety education for children.
Safety Town is a two week course starting July 27 and running through Aug. 7 for children entering kindergarten in the fall. Sessions are either 8 to 10 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Children must attend both weeks.
Registration must be done in person, no phone, fax or e-mail registrations please. The cost of the course is $25, which includes a T-shirt for each student. For any questions about the program, call Officer Nicholson at the Thiensville Police Department, (262) 242-2100.
Woof 'n Hoof coming August 1
Shorewood - Gilda's Club Southeastern Wisconsin will hold a dog and people walk, Woof 'n Hoof from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 1. A 1- or 2.5-mile walk through the village of Shorewood concludes with family and pet activities. There will be prizes for the walkers who raise the most money through pledges.
