Learning + Fractions = Gingerbread Houses Mrs. Riesen’s 6th grade math class has been learning to add and subtract fractions with like and unlike denominators. For Christmas Mrs. Riesen added a special twist to this learning experience, she challenged the students to put these concepts into practical application. The students built Gingerbread Houses from blue prints they designed using their math skills. They then rolled the gingerbread dough, cut it to proportion, baked, assembled and decorated the houses. Some students had to use problem solving skills to properly assemble their Gingerbread Houses when an unforeseen crumble occurred. This was a tastefully delicious learning experience!

(Zoological Society of Milwaukee, February 2008)-- At the winter kickoff for Zoo Ball 2008, sponsored by American Airlines & American Eagle, the co-chairs introduced the theme: an eagle in flight. Dance in the Sky is the actual title of the Zoological Society of Milwaukee (ZSM) Zoo Ball, on June 28th. The eagle is an appropriate symbol for all parties involved, not just the Zoo and ZSM. For the airlines, it’s a perfect pick. For the six Zoo Ball co-chairs, all from Harley-Davidson Motor Co., the eagle is the symbol of freedom and the symbol of Harley-Davidson, said Gail Lione, executive vice president and general counsel at the Milwaukee company. This is the 25th anniversary of Zoo Ball, and Dr. Bert Davis, Zoological Society CEO, was looking for “some powerhouse anniversary celebrators,” said Lione. “So he called us at Harley.” The company celebrates its 105th anniversary in 2008 with the opening of the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee. A community is all about the people who live in it. So we offer this part of the Web site for you to show us who you are and what you care about through your photographs.
We'd love to see photos of you and your families, your pets, your gardens, your vacations, your children's birthday parties and proms and weddings, your neighorhood get-togethers.
Show us what makes your community special, too. Maybe it's your favorite neighborhood tavern, or park ... you decide.
It's easy. Just use the form below, browse for the photo you want to submit on your computer, and send it along. We'll review the photos and post them (as long as they're not inappropriate for some reason).
