The Government is Not Trying Hard Enough

"The government is not trying hard enough."

That is an actual quote from Nancy Pelosi. Interpreted, this means the Congress is going to initiate more trillion dollar bills, at least 1000 pages long, and it will all be financed by debt.

With the healthcare reform bill gaining momentum in Congress, a.k.a. a government takeover of the health care system, and President Obama headed to Copenhagen to suggest that United States needs more controls imposed on businesses done in the name of going green, the Democrats are in effect admitting that the stimulus bill did not work. Well, for the Democrats not working means that enough money was not put towards it. $787 billion was not enough to cover all of the liberal want lists there are in America today.

Even the Democrats are asking, "Where are the jobs?"The stimulus bill pushed through Congress and forced onto American taxpayers was not designed to create jobs for businesses. It only created government jobs. It did not achieve very good results at that. Even the Obama administration is wondering why the economy is not producing jobs. Of course, if spending goes up, the Dow rises, or if unemployment claims drop ever so slightly, the Obama administration claims victory. They save the economy from the brink. Yet as the GDP gets adjusted downward, and unemployment figures rise, Obama still blames that on George Bush. When is Obama going to take responsibility for the damage he has done to the economy?

President Obama has just set a new record for government spending in the first year of any presidency. Even adjusted for inflation, the government has spent an outrageous amount of money this year. Yet, any failures are still blamed on the problems he inherited. Well, Obama campaigned on the promise that he was going to meet these problems and tackle them. Instead, he passes the blame. America elected him to lead. Passing the blame is not leadership. The Obama presidency is based on the victim mentality. Obama is the victim of George W. Bush.

Every other week, national polls show his approval rating in decline. So what does Obama do? He takes a trip. A trip to China, two trips to Copenhagen, a trip to Europe -- and what came out of them? Absolutely nothing. Even the optimists say- hardly anything. As more and more Americans lose their jobs, Obama has cocktail night at the White House just about every Wednesday. Even NBC reports that.

With taxes increasing and government spending skyrocketing, the Obama administration and Democrats in Congress think that that is not enough. So what are we getting? More of the same. More spending that only wastes money. Higher taxes on the rich that are going to trickle down to the middle class as inflation rises and businesses pass on their taxes to consumers. When liberals raise taxes, they think that everybody will just grumble for a day or two and then pay up. They have absolutely no idea that taxes have effect on what people do with their money and their businesses. Not everyone hands over half their pay to the government and thinks it's patriotic à la Joe Biden.

The goals and objective of this administration are to redistribute the wealth in America. They ignorantly think that they are helping the poor by making more of them. The tax-and-spend liberals will be happy when everyone is broke and dependent upon the government. My only hope for America is at this. Soon before we get to the point of which these failing policies cannot be reversed. Obama and the Democrats in Congress have done more damage to the American economy in the past 11 months than George Bush did in eight years.

This administration is clearly in over their head. They have absolutely no idea what what to do. They have tried and failed and want to do more of the same. How much more wasteful spending can America afford? How can taxes be raised on businesses and individuals who are then expected to turn around and create jobs? With the uncertainty of looming entitlements and government bureaucratic expansionism that is happening today, it will be a long time before confidence returns to the economy and jobs can be created. Is trying harder going to bring the solution? The arrogance of Congress seems to think so.
