Is Anyone Undecided?
Are there any undecided voters out there? Having just gone through the primary election, we've probably gotten enough information on the candidates for governor and Senate. All we have to do is to remember to show up on November 2. Yet, we continue to be bombarded with advertisements. The Robo calls will probably begin very soon. Too soon. That's a frequency increases of the number of ads we are going to be exposed to for the next month or so, it will probably include enough negativity to show that the candidate we want and the candidate we oppose will have so many negative points, it could convince even the most loyal voter to stay home.
The main deciding factor in just about all elections held at the state level and the federal level are contingent upon the success or lack there of with the economy. It's taxes and the deficits that grab our attention. Do we want our taxes to go up? Or do we want our taxes to go way up?
Tax-and-spend liberals and progressives would like us to shift our focus on the generosity of the social programs that we provide and how we can make them better. By making them better that includes spending more money. And of course they try to appeal to the compassionate side of all of us so that we may become weak and throw in the towel and say yes we need to pay more taxes. They would gladly paid to their share as long as we pay much more than we have been previously and more than we are paying now.
Well, people don't go to work every day so that they can pay more taxes. People go to work so that they may have more after paying taxes. More for themselves, more for their families, more for their futures. Progressives call that greed. You've earned it, but you don't deserve it. But the government decide how to distribute the value you create for society.
It's time to use your vote to send a message to the bureaucrats in Washington and the bureaucrats in Madison that it's time to stop the spending. The policies and programs that have been put forth for eight years by the Doyle administration and two years by the Obama administration have done more to slow the recovery of the economy than any other time in recent history. Uncertainty is the new normal.
Russ Feingold is trying to portray himself as a maverick. Is anyone really buying this? Whenever Russ Feingold votes as a maverick, he tends to be on the losing side. How about the patriot act? That passed anyway. What about the financial reform bill? That passed without his vote. And the reason that he didn't like it is because it was not liberal enough.
Russ Feingold has been in lockstep with the Democrats and the Obama administration when it comes to the recovery act. That wasted $800 billion of our taxpayer money. What has it done? It has not created jobs. Even though we've been told that the recession has been over for over a year, it doesn't seem like it's over. How has that helped America? Russ Feingold has voted for the health care reform act. Even after six months, over half of America opposes it. Even at Feingold's listening sessions, most of the constituents that attended urged him to vote against it. He did not have enough backbone to do that. Now he wants another term?
Tom Barrett finally decided that there might be some political advantage in not raising taxes. He might try it for a year. So he says. You can bet that he won't not raise taxes for two years. This is called straight talk according to Barrett. And what about the train? Another $800 million for taxpayers to waste. Always good to go where everybody wants it to. Everybody just has to change their plans for where they want to go.
A perennial theme going into any election is one of throwing the bums out. This year especially, the anti-incumbency attitude is so strong that it looks like we're going to be throwing a lot of bums out. The bad news is, they will be replaced by new bums. And soon we will be wanting to get rid of this new crop of bums. In the meantime, will the problems we put them in office for ever get resolved?
